Rays always has the best meats, sausages, bacon, and even prepared foods. We've never had a bad experience with anything from Rays. And the staff is Alyse's super helpful. Highly recommend
Consistent good quality meats and other foods. Bakery is quite good too. Service could be better and friendlier.
Premium prices for premium products. It's a large store with a healthy selection of if meats. I was happy with the steaks I purchased, however one was cut at kind of a wonky angle. Like a meat wedge, but it cooked up evenly using sous vide. There's a small area with what looked like general grocery and baked goods. I didn't explore too much because it was busy, though the checkout line moved quickly. I know I'll be back, but I might choose a weekend that doesn't involve a special occasion/holiday so that I can look around without feeling like I'm in the way.
Always the best cuts and so willing to cut things just as I like. Love that they carry Icelandic Haddock, too!
Rays can be expensive but they have a great selection that you will not find in the big box grocery stores. I have been a fan of rays since my first visit and I could spend hours combining through everything. My buddy was in the UP and brought back some amazing looking pasty's with baby reds and and beef which I drooled over, he stated that Rays sells them frozen so I was excited. Rays if they did sell MI pasty's, they don't anymore and only sell their homemade version that is available I was told. Well their house brand hit the spot and I now have a new pasty place, I should try the famous north side one again just to make sure that I really like rays better.
Ray's is a southside gem. When you walk in you are welcomed by several butchers who are happy to help you and answer questions. From beef jerky to beef sticks to steaks to shrimp, Ray's has the best quality items. They also have a good section of cold salads, frozen dinner items, wines, snacks, and dry goods.
